One More Week

Seven more days until the BCS National Championship when these two studs get their shot against an SEC defense.

Florida State has defied the odds since this season started. They started the season ranked #11 in the AP Top 25 and picked second behind Clemson by most coaches in the ACC. They got the job done throughout the year and did so in grand fashion, showing Clemson and Miami who's Daddy and reminding Duke to focus on Jabari Parker's freshman season.

A week before the National championship game, Jimbo Fisher's team has reversed the role that they started the season with. They are favored over Auburn by a little over a touchdown with a week left until the title game. Since the Clemson blowout, the team has been rolling along in the role of favorites, and have not disappointed like recent FSU teams.

Florida State deserves to be favored in this game, as they are the better team coming into the matchup. They have a huge defensive edge over Auburn and have proven that their offense scores with the best in the nation. Somebody needs to break the SEC title streak. It's been seven straight years and the stronghold that one conference has over an entire sport is getting ridiculous. This Florida State team has the best shot to break this record out of any non-SEC team during these long eight years. Just to give you a reminder of the outcomes of the National championship games in the last seven years,

BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Year Matchup
2007 Florida 41, Ohio State 14
2008 LSU 38, Ohio State 24
2009 Florida 24, Oklahoma 14
2010 Alabama 37, Texas 21
2011 Auburn 22, Oregon 19
2012 Alabama 21, LSU 0
2013 Alabama 42, Notre Dame 14

Besides the 2010 and 2011 games, every single SEC team in these championship games were much more athletic than their opponents. I would argue that Florida State is faster and more athletic than Auburn, and that they have more depth. There's a reason that the FSU defense barely allows more than a touchdown every single game. The defensive starters that they put out on the field are animals, and in the rare occasion that those guys get tired, they have people ready to step up right below them.

I don't think that this game will be a blowout by any means. On the other hand, I think it is shaping up to be one of the best national championships in recent memory. A lot more to come on this game in the next week, for now i'll leave you with this.
Stud.
