Anchorman 2 Review

Last night a couple buddies and I went to see the second Anchorman, and fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't have very high expectations seeing as sequels to comedies, especially comedies as good as the first Anchorman, usually fall flat. But this movie was pretty good. There were a lot of parts that had me buckled over in laughter and some very quotable lines that you can expect me to use in the future.

There were three major criticism I had with this movie. The first was that Brick was a bit too ridiculous for me at times. They really make Brick stupid in this movie, to the point where it gets annoying at times. The second is how they sometimes point out jokes they're making, like when something ridiculous happens someone will be like, "Oh my god why are you doing that?" which to me sounds like "we know the joke isn't that funny but by asking about it we make it funnier." It doesn't happen a lot, but when it did it bothered me. The third is the reuse of jokes. Much like the Hangover, Anchorman 2 uses a lot of jokes and scenes from the first one. I'm sure some people liked it and felt that those scenes are what Anchorman Anchorman, but I don't really like when movies do that and thought it made the movie drag on a little bit.

But overall, Anchorman 2 was a pretty solid movie with a lot of good laughs. The first Anchorman is a timeless film and is up there as one of my favorite movies of all time. I absolutely love Will Ferrel, probably my favorite actor, and he did not disappoint with Anchorman 2. I give Anchorman 2 a solid 7-7.5 out of 10, and would recommend seeing it if you were a fan of the first (which you should be, unless you're a serial killer).
PS - My friends and I may have participated in some "extra curricular activities" before the movie. Also, highly recommended.
