Sorry that I'm a day late on this, I got caught up yesterday doing nothing, but Frank "The Big Hurt" Thomas was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame yesterday. This is a really cool feeling for me because growing up on the South Side of Chicago until I moved, I went to a ton of White Sox games and got to watch Frank Thomas play a lot. My summers consisted of going to Comiskey Park with my dad watching Pauly Konerko, The Big Hurt, and Magglio OrdoƱez play for the South Side Boys of Summer.
I feel like a lot of people over look Frank Thomas because people think of him mainly as a DH, which he was to be fair. But he was one of the greatest hitters of all time and is probably the best player in White Sox history. Has a world series ring, batted .301 in his career, 521 dingers, and an OPS .974. Those are some unbelievable numbers and Frank Thomas absolutely deserves his spot in Cooperstown, so I'm thrilled he's gonna have his day there.
So here's to Frank Thomas, congratulations and let's all have a Big Hurt Beer in honor of him.
